Here's what I'm looking for currently...

"Abstinence Only" education
in Montana
for a "Foaming Rabid"
dealing exclusively on the topic.
Starting in 2000, our lousy former Governor Judy Martz slashed the state's educational 'birth control/sex ed' program, replacing it with a cheaper "Abstinence only" education program that seemed to boil down to a few TV ads showing miserable young couples and struggling single parents (obviously not mentioning abortion) and new 'abstinence' classes taught by people that only had enthusiasm for credentials, not to mention a religious agenda.

The results seem to be (verifying now) that the instances of teen pregancy and V.D. have at least tripled.  I read part of a JAMA article where the doctor wrote how shocked he was on how little was known.  In his text he said "And I asked them why they didn't use protection and they said "They told us at school condoms don't work and homosexuals smear AIDS into them at the factory.""

I'm looking for info, personal stories, samples of abstinence literature, info on 'abstinence teachers' with strong ties to religious organisations and so forth.  I intend to check up on every bit of info I get and interview teachers, doctors, etc.  Of course, I'm bashing idiot neo-cons, but only inderectly.  This will be a larger 'zine, at least 16 pages focusing on how the attempt to 'do good' ended up creating more evil than existed previously.

Any local help will be greatly appreciated and given credit.  (or kept secret)

Counter-Recruitment
Have there been any real attempts at counter-recruitment locally?
(Montana, esp. Billings)

Any local info on grassroots activism to counter the efforts of US Millitary recruiters to get 'fresh meat' for this dispicable war for Bush and Co.'s profit margin would be greatly appreciated. 

If completed, this issue will be a collection of facts and stories to steer kids away from the millitary.  It will focus on harassment in the services, the prejudice employers give against veterans, the increased chances of a veteran becoming homeless, post-tramatic stress disorder, etc.

Miscellanious:
Artwork/Comics
Fold a standard 8.5/11" paper sheet in half so you get a 5.5/8.5" booklet.
Would, shrunk down to fit that size, you artwork look good, your comics be readable?  I don't care if there's a little extra in the margins, but it overall needs to fit into this size.

I might also do a quarter size booklet, that is a standard sheet of paper folded into 1/4 size.  That way, I make 8 pages per double sided sheet of paper.  Mini comics/photos are really good for this thing!

Stories
Except as mentioned, I don't have the space now to print stories not my own.

Information
I am a 'dabbler' journalist, having had besides cartoons some actual articles published professionally.  Besides this outlet, I can do lots with good information.  I like political corruption, police misconduct stories and especially ANYTHING that slams "Moralists"/"Fundy religious persons" as hypocrites.  For these, I can't pay so just tell me if you want to slam someone who's done something wrong.  Of course I'll protect my source. (I WILL check and verify, so no false info)
